Kajiado County: Ban on land transactions still on
A notice appearing in the Daily Nation of Friday 11th July 2014 page 28 affirms that the ban on land transactions by Kajiado County is still on.
The notice by the County government points out that print and broadcast advertisements continue to highlight 'land on sale' within the County without referring to the existing policies and planning guidelines for the approval of subdivisions of land into small portions on agricultural land outside designated urban areas within the County.
The notice cites the Planning Act Cap 286 and cautions that no surveys should be executed on any parcel for purposes of erecting beacons or demarcating sub-plots when the pertinent schemes have not been approved by the County Government.
Buyers of land in the County are therefore advised to check whether plots offered to them for sale need to check whether the respective subdivision schemes on agricultural land have been approved to avert the possibility of losing their money. The notice further advises the public to strictly adhere to change of user procedures which will be considered in due course once the ban is lifted.
Practising surveyors and planners will need to take note of the above notice in order to guide their clients appropriately when dealing with transanctions on agricultural land in Kajiado.
