After the recent Special Issue Kenya Gazette Notice Vol. CXV No 27 of 20th February 2013 on the Chair and Members to the National Land Commission, the swearing in of the team by Kenya's Chief Justice Dr Willy Mutunga was done on Wednesday 27th February 2013.

Those sworn in were:-

Chair

1. Mohammad Abdalla Swazuri

Members

1. Dr Tomiik Mboya Konyimbih

2. Silas Kinoti Muriithi

3. Dr Rose Mumbua Musyoka

4. Dr Samuel Kipng'etich Tororei

5. Abigael Mbagaya

6. Emma Muthoni Njogu

7. Clement Isaiah Lenanchuru

8. Abdulkadir Adan Khalif

This brings to an end this protracted process since it began in June 2012. The Commission will now have to mind the mundane issues of assuming office......office space, interim secretariat and initial budget line. These small routine administrative issues, at a time when most high level decision makers are focused on the general elections, may take a while to successfully address.Once settled, the team will need to quickly make its work plan to guide it deliver on its wide constitutional mandate.

But the very gazettement and swearing in of this key Constitutional Commission was a big relief and brings hope to many Kenyans keen on seeing a serious, sincere and systematic approach to resolving key issues in Kenya's historical land question. Let us all give this team the necessary support as they commence on this onerous and humbling journey.
